冯远，1952年生于上海。现为中国文学艺术界联合会副主席、党组成员、书记处书记，中国美术家协会副主席，清华大学美术学院名誉院长、博士研究生导师，中国国家画院国画院研究员。曾任中华人民共和国文化部教育科技司司长、艺术司司长、中国美术馆馆长。1980年毕业于浙江美术学院中国画研究生班并留校执教，曾任学院教务处长、副院长、教授等职。

Feng Yuan was born in 1952 in Shanghai. He is currently vice chair, member of the Party group, secretary of the Secretariat of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, vice chair of China Artists Association, honorary president and a doctoral supervisor of the Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University, a doctoral supervisor, and a research fellow at the Traditional Chinese Painting Institute of China National Academy of Painting. He served as the director of the Department of Education, Science, and Technology and Department of Art of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, and the president of National Art Museum of China. In 1980, he graduated from the Chinese painting graduate class of Zhejiang Fine Arts College and stayed there as a teacher and worked successively as director of the Office of Academic Affairs, vice president, and professor.
