Huo Chunyang was born in 1946 in Qingyuan County, Hebei Province. In 1969, he graduated from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and has been a teacher there since then. Since 1992, he is a recipient of a special government allowance granted by the State Council. In 1997, he was chosen by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles as one of One Hundred Outstanding Chinese Painters. He was the dean of the Chinese Painting Department of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts where he also works as a professor and master’s supervisor. He is the president of the Art Gallery of the academy, vice chair of Tianjin Artists Association, professor and doctoral supervisor at Central Academy of Fine Arts, a member of China Association for Promotion of Culture, and a research fellow at China National Academy of Painting.
